prodot's comprehensive telematics solution enables construction companies to use, plan and manage their vehicles and construction machinery such as wheel loaders, excavators and pavers more efficiently. Relevant data is aggregated from various telematics systems (MiX Telematics, CAT, Liebherr, etc.) and automatically synchronized with SAP. Among other things, the intelligent processing of data can reduce fuel costs by around 5-10%.

As Europe's leading road construction group, our customer has a significant interest in optimizing the utilization of its construction machinery and fuel consumption. A pilot project of the construction company demonstrates the savings potential by introducing a comprehensive telematics system with customized software and cloud platform with integration of the Internet of Things.
prodot was commissioned to develop a solution with IoT sensor technology specifically for construction operations and to integrate data from several telematics systems and SAP into one software package.
Using "geo-fences", activities on the construction site can be recorded and automatically processed - such as prescriptions in SAP.
In addition, the following goals are realized:

Which vehicles, machines and equipment are in use on which construction sites?
The IoT platform from prodot integrates data from various sources into one interface to quickly provide the user with information about where construction sites, vehicles and construction machinery are located.
Based on this information, resources such as construction equipment and machinery, excavators or wheel loaders can be efficiently planned and coordinated on the platform - across all telematics providers (MiX Telematics, CAT, Liebherr, etc.).
Zoom-in and drill-down with exact status
The zoom-in function shows the exact status of a construction machine - colored markings show whether construction machines are working, being transported or require maintenance.
In the list view, only the vehicles, construction machines and areas that are visible on the map are displayed.
Vehicle and device data immediately accessible
In addition to the current position, the detailed view of a vehicle or piece of construction equipment also shows the operating hours, mileage and current consumption data.
Each vehicle is linked to the SAP system via an ID so that the corresponding meter readings are automatically imported back into SAP.
AdHoc reports for direct analysis
Consumption and operating times can be viewed and analyzed historically for each vehicle or piece of construction equipment. This allows equipment and vehicles to be used more economically. This saves fuel and protects the environment.
Multi-level authorization concept
A special authorization concept filters the data of the different branches and user groups. Each user only receives the information and reports available to them. The mapping of the company structure and allocation of data is carried out automatically via SAP and Active Directory.
Optimized device utilization through internal rental
The IoT platform solution from prodot digitally maps the internal rental process to reduce costs for external rental equipment and maximize internal capacity utilization. This allows branches to easily register, request and borrow or lend out devices.
The devices are charged on in SAP based on actual device usage.
Tracking & tracing, compliance
Tracking, i.e. the location and occurrence of important events, takes place in near real time using modern transmission technology in the Internet of Things. All data is recorded for use in a historical view.
This means that important movement sequences and special events in the event of legal disputes or insurance claims can be precisely verified at any time, even retrospectively. This is automatically accompanied by the intelligent optimization of routes and driving behavior.
Localization and theft protection
Notifications by e-mail or SMS automatically inform you of the occurrence of previously configured events such as theft. Alarms signal unexpected activities of the fleet outside the construction site areas marked by the site manager (geo-fence). This increases safety.
Always informed: Automated reporting and dispatch by schedule
All processes and data from the connected telematics systems are automatically recorded in the IoT platform solution: from positions and fuel consumption to operating hours and mileage.
This makes it possible to check equipment and vehicle usage across the entire fleet. Inefficient processes, such as downtimes with the engine running or incorrect machine operation, are thus smartly identified in the software.
Each report can be generated and sent ad hoc and on a schedule. This specifically increases equipment availability, improves work cycles and helps to avoid unnecessary fuel consumption and wear.
