Using PaaS and SaaS cloud service models in AZURE (MS) and .NET technology, prodot developed and implemented large parts of digitalSTROM's Microsoft-relevant backend services.

Relevant backend services

The digitalSTROM smart home standard stands for a holistic networking concept and digital lifestyle. The manufacturer-independent digitalSTROM platform makes it possible for electrical and electronic devices in the home to be controlled via software, work together sensibly and become increasingly intelligent.

The existing smart home platform implemented on the basis of Microsoft® Azure was to be expanded in line with requirements - including individual advice on optimizing the architecture.

Since 2016, prodot has been responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and further development of the old cloud architecture as well as the implementation of the first micro services architecture, which is intended to support the expansion of digitalSTROM's range of services as a strategic platform.

In order to be able to offer digitalSTROM customers services such as Google Home and Amazon Alexa, the platform had to be expanded to include the OAuth protocol. The micro services architecture enables the integration of Google Home or Amazon Alexa based on an OAUTH2 protocol and the integration of the Home Wiki. The Home Wiki is a service that provides the status of the house (e.g. is the washing machine still running) and data (current and historical data, room temperatures, humidity, outside temperature, energy consumption in the room/apartment, etc.) so that other services and algorithms can access it and use the information for their applications. For example, the customer can ask Alexa how warm it currently is in the living room.
