Software development in logistics
prodot develops individual logistics software for warehouse management, transportation, fleet telematics and real-time tracking - AI-ready, scalable and seamlessly integrated into your system landscape.
Customized logistics software: processes instead of compromises
Standard software ends where your processes begin. As an experienced partner for software development in logistics, we develop solutions that are tailored to your warehouse structure, your vehicle fleet and your customer processes - not the other way around.
Our more than 80 IT experts know the challenges from practical experience: data silos between systems, a lack of real-time transparency, heterogeneous carrier APIs and the pressure to handle more volume with the same resources every day. We solve them - technically sound and sustainable in the long term.

Why prodot is the right partner for software development in logistics
Logistics domain knowledge from practice
prodot has implemented projects for freight forwarders, trading companies and industrial companies with their own logistics. We know dispatcher workflows, customs processes and warehousing logic from the real world - no training required at your expense.
Vendor-independent integration
We are not beholden to any provider. We integrate SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, any carrier APIs (DHL, DPD, UPS, forwarder's own), telematics providers and customs systems based on open standards such as REST, EDI and SOAP.
Microsoft & Azure expertise
As an experienced Microsoft partner, we rely on Azure for scalable cloud infrastructure, .NET for robust backend development and Power BI for operational logistics dashboards - with real depth instead of certification logos.
End-to-end from a single source
From requirements analysis to API design, app development and data migration through to ongoing operation - without passing on to subcontractors and without any loss of information between project phases.
AI-ready for the next level
Our logistics solutions are designed for AI enhancements right from the start: Route optimization with machine learning, demand forecasting for warehouse planning and automatic document recognition via OCR and LLMs.
Compliance & data security by design
GDPR-compliant shipment tracking, NIS2 requirements for critical infrastructures, digital freight documentation - at prodot, compliance is not an afterthought, but part of the architecture.

Frequently asked questions about software development in logistics
-
What is the difference between standard and customized software in logistics?
Standard software such as SAP TM or generic WMS solutions cover typical processes - but always at the lowest common denominator. Customized software precisely maps your specific warehouse structures, carrier contracts, picking logics and customer processes. This pays off if your processes are a real competitive advantage and standard solutions would force you to give up this advantage.
-
How long does it take to develop logistics software?
This depends on the scope and complexity. An initial productive module - such as a driver app for the last mile or a shipment tracking portal - can often be delivered in 8-14 weeks. A complete WMS or TMS platform with ERP integration typically takes 4-9 months. prodot works in iterative sprints, so you don't have to wait until the end of the project to see something that works.
-
How does prodot integrate logistics software into existing ERP systems?
We develop integration layers based on open standards: REST APIs, EDI (EDIFACT, X12), SOAP and middleware solutions such as Azure Service Bus or MuleSoft. We are vendor-independent and have experience with SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle and individual ERP systems. The integration is developed as an independent, testable component - not as a hidden paste between systems.
-
Can prodot also connect carrier APIs and parcel service providers?
Yes, we connect carrier APIs from DHL, DPD, UPS, GLS, Hermes and individual carrier systems. This includes shipment registration, label generation, tracking updates and returns management. Where carriers do not offer a modern REST API, we develop adapters for older protocols or EDI formats.
-
What needs to be considered when developing driver apps?
Driver apps have to work under real-life conditions: poor network connection, operation with gloves, time pressure. We develop offline-first architectures that work reliably even without a stable network and synchronize data as soon as a connection is established. This is complemented by barrier-free UX, digital signatures, photo capture for proof of delivery and direct connection to route planning and ERP.
-
How is real-time tracking implemented technically?
Real-time tracking is typically based on a combination of GPS data from vehicles or driver devices, telematics APIs and a scalable event streaming platform (e.g. Azure Event Hubs or Apache Kafka). The position data is processed in real time, linked to order data and delivered to customer portals and dispatcher dashboards via WebSockets or server-sent events. prodot develops the entire chain - from the data source to the UI.
-
What role does AI play in logistics software?
AI opens up three main areas in logistics: Route optimization with machine learning (taking into account time windows, vehicle capacities and historical traffic data), demand forecasts for warehouse planning (inventory optimization, automatic reordering) and automatic document recognition via OCR and LLMs (waybills, delivery bills, customs documents). prodot bases all its logistics solutions on an AI-ready architecture so that these components can be added at any time.
